About Us

Introduction

Sahara Nepal is a non-government, not for profit, community development organization registered at the District Administration Office, Bajhang on 20 January 2010 (Registration no. 443). It is also affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (Affiliation No. 29273) and registered in the Internal Revenue Office (PAN number 600191641). The organization has 30 general members. More than 35% of the members are women and from socially disadvantaged groups including dalit and indigenous communities. Six full time staffs as well as board members and advisors (who provide their services voluntarily to the organization) are committed to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the organization. The decision-making processes, financial management and working procedures of this organization has been guided by organizational policies and procedures making them transparent and accountable towards our beneficiaries and stakeholders. Major focus areas of the organization include local governance and social accountability; climate change mitigation, adaptation and disaster risk reduction, terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity conservation and sustainable use; youth mobilization and leadership enhancement; community development; health, education and livelihood promotion.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Foundation are listed below.

  •   To make policy advocacy and promote good governance.
  •    Partnership/coordination with stakeholders for formulating laws and polices.
  •  To promote good governance through application social accountability tools such as rights to information.
  •  To study and research in policy, law and good governance.
  • To conduct different programs for corruption free society, accountable government and responsible citizen.
  •  To conduct promotional programs to protect and promote fundamental rights of citizen.
