Farmers’ Capacity Building Program Successfully Completed in Masta Rural Municipality
Bajhang, Masta Rural Municipality – A three-day farmers’ capacity building orientation program on manure management, agroforestry, crop rotation, and nitrogen fixation was successfully conducted from 27–29 April 2026 in Masta Rural Municipality.
The program was organized by Sahara Nepal Bajhang with financial and technical support from Swallows of Finland, aiming to strengthen farmers’ knowledge and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
Farmers from Wards No. 3 to 7 actively participated in the program, representing the areas of Bhatekhola, Rilu, and Thakunna. The training sessions focused on practical and field-based learning to improve soil fertility management, increase crop productivity, and promote environmentally friendly farming systems.

Throughout the program, participants were oriented on the importance of organic manure preparation and proper utilization, integrated farming systems such as agroforestry, effective crop rotation techniques, and the role of nitrogen-fixing crops in maintaining soil health. The sessions were designed to encourage farmers to adopt sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices.

Facilitators emphasized that improved soil management and diversified farming systems can significantly enhance agricultural productivity while reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers. Farmers actively engaged in discussions, shared local practices, and expressed their commitment to applying the knowledge in their fields.
Local stakeholders and project staff also observed the sessions and highlighted the importance of continued technical support and regular farmer-focused training programs in rural communities.

This initiative is expected to contribute to improved soil health, increased agricultural productivity, and strengthened livelihoods of farming households in Masta Rural Municipality.
